TV antennas have compromises built in.. All of this it tied together and the efficiency is greatly compromised. Also, there is no elements cut for the 3-meter FM broadcast band. You must rely on the VHF-lo elements, which are designed for Mc. This has directional selectivity limitations: Because the wavelength of the signal is too small for the VHF-lo elements, the antenna’s front to back ratio it’s ability to select signals directly in front of it, but reject signals from behind is very poor to nonexistent. TV antennas tend to have many lobes, scattered around the azimuth plane, looking sort of like a starfish pattern, at Mc.

Take a look at the block diagram above and notice where the antenna tuner and SWR meter are in relation to the flow of the RF signal coming from the transceiver. Note that the rf is actually flowing in both directions and not just toward the antenna. Your station may not use them You will notice that You just learned how to hook it all up! Just remember that our goal is to make the transceiver think all is well, and in order to “read” the SWR and Power out pertaining to “all is well”
An off-air antenna is a product people use to receive over-the-air signals from broadcast TV stations. In order to use an antenna, your television must have a built-in TV tuner or you must have an external tuner connected to the antenna and television.
Zenith 8S antenna hook up question Posted: Jan Mon 16, Jan Thu 01, 1: There is a metal tab on the box that has places to attach wires. One screw is marked “A” and the other “G”. Does this indicate Antenna and Ground? I do not want to risk damaging the radio by hooking something up incorrectly. Thanks for any help.
Yes those are the connections for an external antenna and ground. That big box is a rotatable loop antenna. Nested in it is a smaller coil whose connections are the “A” and “G”, screws you see. Use 25 to 50 feet of wire around the upper perimeter of the room. Connect the ground to a water pipe or radiator know to be metal all the way to the pipes entrance to the building OR to a ground rod 6 – 8 feet long driven into the solid some feet away from the foundation of the building.
An electrical supply house can provide a suitable ground rod.

This wikiHow teaches you the basics to installing Roku, a device that connects to your TV for streaming digital media. You will need to purchase an HDMI cord separately since the device doesn’t come with one. A component connection consists of green, blue, and red circular outlets.. A composite connection will have yellow, white, and red circular outlets instead.
This is done by opening the back of the remote and installing 2 AAA batteries. These should be packaged with the Roku player, but any standard AAA batteries work fine.

One way is to go to grad school. Which is partly true. You may even feel a little dirty. The basic procedure looks like this: Pick an IC Look at the Datasheet of your chip, find the example layout section Does your application have physical size limitations? Does your Antenna have to be directional? Use the answers to the above questions to choose your antenna type whip, wire, chip, PCB trace Design your PCB layout based on the example layout.
Size the feedline for your application Build some boards Test the antenna with an SMA connector and a spectrum analyzer, if possible.

Weather What type of feedline coax should I use for my antenna A common question that I receive is what type of coax cable should I use for my J-Pole antenna. This is a great question, as the coax you select can make a dramatic difference on the performance and range of your antenna system. There is a wide variety and choices of coaxial cable available and each type serves a different purpose.

Parallel transmission line has the advantage that its losses are an order of magnitude smaller than that of coaxial cable , the main alternative form of transmission line. Its disadvantages are that it is more vulnerable to interference , and must be kept away from metal objects which can cause power losses. For this reason, when installed along the outside of buildings and on antenna masts, standoff insulators must be used. It is also common practice to twist the twin lead on long free standing lengths to further reject any induced imbalances to the line.
Twin-lead is also used in amateur radio stations as a transmission line for balanced transmission of radio frequency signals. Twin-lead generally has higher impedance than the other common transmission wiring, coaxial cable coax.

Once I scroll down and click on Guided Setup the remote gets stuck. I get 25 on LGtv. Gregory Braley October 11, at 5: All the TVs in the house pretty much get the same channels and the same reception. So I took one of the other TVs and connected it in place of the Vizio and it receives that channel just fine. Is there any way to fine tune the channel selections?
You can use any type of HDTV Antenna you want with the AM21N, including attic- and roof-mounted options. You can find plenty of online help setting those up, but since I went with a small, indoor, flat antenna, that’s the only one I feel qualified to discuss.
Ideally, with your can size, the TE11 cut-off frequency should be lower than 2. If your can is a little off in length or diameter, don’t despair, experimentation is fun! You want to mark the location on the can where you will put the hole for the connector. Open only one end of your can, eat the contents, and give it a good washing. You’ll probably want to remove the label too. If you’ve got a drill, select a bit that matches the size of the center of your connector.
You may want to start with a small bit and work the hole larger and larger. You could even start with a hammer and nail, then use drill bits. If you don’t have a drill, start with a nail hole and use a file to get the hole to the required size. If you’re using a bolt on connector, make four more holes for the bolts – you can use the connector as a drilling guide. If so there are several possibilities. First you want to decide if you want an Inside Antenna or an Outside antenna. If an outside one.. Don’t take a chance on a lightning strike blowing up your radio. First a simple 20 foot wire attached to your radio will work and receive stations on your old radio.. Adding a ground wire to the radio will usually improve the signals and reduce some of the noise your hearing. In this next section you will be able to see an inside antenna that works well.
If you can get a long wire up in your attic This is a grid type of antenna that is simply stapled up to the roof rafters in your attic

To find out what type of signals you can expect, I recommend the TVFool. Just type in your address, and it calculates your coverage based on the terrain and known transmitters in the area. Click here for a copy of my report, showing what I can expect in the Provo, UT area. If your report shows stronger signals, then you may be fine with a standard non-amplified Mohu or AmazonBasics antenna for a few dollars cheaper.
When it arrived, I was shocked at how small and light it was. Antenna technology has come a long way!
I bought an antenna awhile back and hooked it up. I disconnected the cable line that controls my Internet from the cable box and connected it

How to Hook an Antenna to a Sony Bravia HDTV
I wish I had found this forum a little sooner. I’m trying to design a RF power amplifier to work at I want an output power of 8 Watts to power up an antenna that I have built. Reason for this much power is we want to be able to achieve a read range of 1meter. I’m stuck on the power ampflier.
It powers up and can play some local stations but I think it needs and external antenna to pull in weak and short wave stations. There is a bare copper wire coming out of the large antenna swiveling box that I believe we used to hook to a wire strung outdoors.
Visually survey your property and find out exactly where your right to put up antennas and your neighbor’s right to tear them down ends. This sets your limits. If there is an XYL involved, the available space may be artificially restricted even further. If you are fortunate, you may have a neighbor who will permit you to use one of his trees to support an end of your antenna. Unfortunately, most neighborhoods seem to want an unobstructed view of utility poles, power lines and other people’s houses, so they cut down most of the trees.
Using trees for antenna supports is a double edged sword. At their very best, trees are frustrating. On a calm day, with your antenna strung from the very top limbs of a couple of well placed, very tall trees, trees are wonderful. However, when our kindly old tree and wind and storms get together to do a little mischief, the combination is a real beast. Treetops whip around and two trees never move in the same direction.
When the trees move in opposite directions, the only thing trying to hold them together is your antenna Maybe it’s nature’s way of seeing just how far your support ropes will stretch before they break. Maybe it’s just nature’s way of providing a way for trees to get rid of all that junk we hang from them. Whatever the reason, tree hung antennas require special treatment and installation procedures.
